From California Historical Society to J. Paul Leonard Library:
- Go to Montgomery Station.
- Hop on M-Line (Balboa Park via S.F. State).
- Get off at 19th Ave & Holloway Ave.
- Then it's a 3-5 minute walk to the Library.
- Once inside, take the elevator up to the 4th floor.
From J. Paul Leonard Library to California Historical Society:
- Cross 19th Ave and go to the M-Line stop (middle of 19th Ave & Holloway Ave intersection)
- Take M-Line (Embarcadero Station).
- Get off at Montgomery Station.
- Then it's a 3-5 minute walk to the California Historical Society
BART

If you use your Clipper Card and get off at Daly City BART, it's a free transfer to/from SFSU campus on Routes 28 and 57.
From California Historical Society to J. Paul Leonard Library:
- Go to Montgomery Station.
- Take any line and get off at Daly City BART station.
- Routes 57 or 28 pick up from this station and can take you to SFSU campus
- If on Route 57, get off at Font Blvd & Serrano Drive. (take a right on Serrano Drive and then left on Arellano Avenue).
- If on Route 28, get off at 19th Ave and Holloway Ave and cross 19th Ave to get to SFSU campus.
- Then it's a 3-5 minute walk to the Library.
From J. Paul Leonard Library to California Historical Society:
- Routes 57 or 28 can take you from SFSU to the Daly BART Station
- If taking Route 57, go to bus stop on Font Blvd and Serrano Dr.
- If taking Route 28, go to bus stop at 19th Ave & Holloway Ave.
- The last stop for both bus routes is Daly City BART station.
- Take any line and get off at Montgomery Station.
- Then it's a 3-5 minute walk to the California Historical Society
By Car:
Below is just one of many ways to get to/from California Historical Society and SFSU campus via car.
From California Historical Society to J. Paul Leonard Library, SFSU:
- Hop on I-80 West from Howard Street to 4th street.
- Take US-101 South and I-280 South.
- Take exit 50 for San Jose Avenue from I-280 South.
- Use right two lanes to turn right onto Sagamore Street.
- Then use right two lanes to turn slightly right onto Brotherhood Way.
- Use right lane to take Juinpero Serra Blvd North / CA-1 North ramp and merge.
- Use right two lanes to turn slightly right onto Junipero Serra Blvd.
- Turn left onto Holloway Avenue.
- After crossing 19th Avenue, the J. Paul Leonard Library will be the second building on the right.
Parking near J. Paul Leonard Library:
- Metered and hourly parking on Holloway Ave.
- Parking Lot 20 located at Lake Merced Blvd and State Drive

- 10-15 minute walk
- To get there by car from the Library, take Holloway Ave to Font Blvd and turn right. Turn right on Lake Merced Blvd, then right on State Drive. Follow State Drive all the way to the parking garage.

From J. Paul Leonard Library, SFSU to California Historical Society:
- Heading east on Holloway Ave, turn right onto 19th Ave.
- Use 2nd from the right lane to turn slightly right onto Junipero Serra Blvd.
- Take the exit toward Alemany Blvd East/Cow Palace then merge onto Brotherhood Way.
- Use the left lane to turn slightly left onto Alemany Blvd then take slight left to stay on Alemany Blvd.
- Use right lane to merge onto I-280 North via the ramp to Civic Center/ Bay Bridge.
- Follow I-280 North.
- Take exit 57 for Sixth Street.
- Turn right onto Brannan Street and then left onto 3rd street.
- Turn Right onto Mission Street and destination will be on the left.
